She has updated her book, A Better World, Inc. to describe why and how corporations can profit by working toward solutions to global problems like protecting the environment and improving racial and gender equity. In this interview, she talks about the business case for linking sustainability to shareholder value.

This is an update of an earlier book and I got a very Dickensian “best of times/worst of times” sense from your comments about what has and has not changed.

Writing a second edition (2023) provided a unique opportunity to take stock of where we are a decade after the first edition (2014). In fact, there have been profound developments in how corporations and the media consider climate change, healthcare post-COVID, board governance, DEI, and other core issues. As a result, the second edition required new research and case studies, and a complete rewrite.
