WAFCA Awards 2021: Nomadland, Soul, Chadwick Boseman, Minari — And Wonder Woman 1984!

The Washington Area Film Critics Association has announced our awards for 2020, with Nomadland taking Best Picture, Director, and Actress, the late Chadwick Boseman as Best Actor (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom), and One Night in Miami taking Best Supporting Actor (Leslie Odom, Jr.) and Best Ensemble.

One special award I look forward to every year is the Best Portrayal of Washington in a movie. This year’s awardee: Wonder Woman 1984, with Wonder Woman working for the Smithsonian.

Best Film: Nomadland

Best Director:
Chloé Zhao (Nomadland)

Best Actor:
Chadwick Boseman (Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom)

Best Actress:
Frances McDormand (Nomadland)

Best Supporting Actor:
Leslie Odom, Jr. (One Night in Miami…)

Best Supporting Actress:
Yuh-Jung Youn (Minari)

Best Acting Ensemble:
One Night in Miami…
